MCSHANE’S IRISH PUB / Detroit
This Corktown staple is a go-to year round with its expansive whiskey selection and great bar food. For the big day, McShane’s is opening at 9 a.m. and featuring a range of Irish fare, including a special St. Paddy’s Day Guinness Irish stew. Other featured menu items include a corned beef and cabbage dinner, shepherd’s pie and Irish egg rolls.

GRAND TRUNK PUB / Detroit
On March 17, Grand Trunk will turn in its timeless, carved stone Woodward storefront for a green sign displaying its historic alias: Foran’s Irish Pub. Grand Trunk throws ‘Foran’s for a Day’ each St. Patrick’s Day in honor of the green ancestry. This year the celebration features $9 shepherd’s pie and a $13 corned beef and cabbage plate.

O’CONNOR’S PUBLIC HOUSE / Rochester
O’Connor’s is home to Oakland county’s “biggest St. Patrick’s Day party.” This year is no different – the pub opens at 7 a.m. and will feature food specials and entertainment all day, including a breakfast bar until 10 a.m. For entertainment, guests will hear from six different bands along with appearances by Detroit’s own 96.3 WDVD-FM.

CONOR O’NEILL’S IRISH PUB / Ann Arbor
Kicking off at 7 a.m., Conor O’Neill’s is your source for entertainment on St. Patrick’s Day; there’s live music lined up all day, with Irish dancers and bagpipers thrown into the mix. As for grub, this Ann Arbor restaurant has iconic Irish fare, including everything from fisherman’s pie to Irish boxty — an Irish twist on the potato pancake.

DICK O’DOW’S / Birmingham
Located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, this Irish restaurant has become known for the menu’s large variety. To kick off the Irish fun, O’Dow’s is having family night on March 16, featuring Irish dancers and music for all ages. On St. Paddy’s day, you can start your day with an Irish breakfast at 7 a.m. and live music at 9:30 a.m. The authentic menu includes Irish salmon and the failsafe shepherd’s pie.
